You can ignore this long paragraph of words. Scroll down.

How do you feel about what you have learnt, and why?

Genuinely, I feel motivated about what I’ve learnt
today and looking forward in learning more regarding
Art Criticism.

After today’s lesson, I had gained several
insights like…

1. Art is changing an ordinary object into
something atypical.

2. The message each artwork convey can be
perceived different from different individuals.

Personally I felt that photographs on the stack of
cars in spear, cloud gate and bird showed in class
were awesome. Some people would question or criticize
the artist on their artwork. I believe that different
one tends to criticize on other’s artwork is because
they didn’t ‘enter into certain kind of relationship
both the receiver and the creator of the Art’. That’s
why my group said that the sculpture isn’t an Art
because he/she cannot relate to it.

However I beg to differ, as to judge a piece of
creation as an art or not just by looking at whether
one can relate to it or not is not very sufficient. As
beauty is the eye of the beholder and everyone is
brought up differently, they might not find anything
common in the relationship between that piece of art
as the artist itself or other audiences. Perhaps to
deduce something as an art, we can look into the form
and content of it so we could understand what the
artist is trying to convey.

Anyhow, like I mentioned, art is not fixed and it
doesn’t have a right or wrong answer. The only way to
appreciate the beauty of art is of course, having an
open-minded attitude to it and not let idea be
restricted by different factors. After all, we need to
be creative in order to discover more beauty in art.

AH HA!
I felt more like an Art student now after today's lesson.
